After purchasing this handle, I became an expert in tailgate disassembly. The device worked after the first installation. about 10 openings. The steel members buckled and buckled under the load of the opening until they failed. The components are easily deformed during use, reducing the effective path and tension of the cable. I've taken the tailgate apart 5 times to fix the problem including: Bending it back into shape. Excessive flex to increase travel. Cable extension/cable termination (slide on cable with locking washer). During installation I replaced the cable and locking mechanism so everything was new. I'll probably buy from a local dealer or a higher quality store. The hassle of replacing it isn't worth the price drop. Buy something else that will last, not this one.
