Wife insisted on replacing the oven which I didn't mind but explained that if a $20 piece could replace it most likely we could would repair, sell this working stainless steel stove for 250-300 and apply for a new one if we're going down that route and don't want to just scrap it. (Frigidaire ovens seem to be around $750 at big stores.) The grill worked but the oven didn't, so I was pretty sure that was the problem. In my case, it was more of a PITA substitute than I expected. 3 different types of screws for removing parts of the oven and the appliance itself (including an unusual Robertson/Skruloks square head screw). Luckily I have a lot of DIY projects and I have enough tools. A screw in the defective block I was replacing had either previously been stripped or was stripped during removal. As a result, I had to drill it with cobalt drill bits. Be careful with this detail. As another reviewer pointed out, the heating element itself is a ceramic conductor. I don't know if I broke the faulty one by removing it or if it was already broken, but once I realized how fragile it was I became much more careful with handling and installing the new unit. Checked it out before I assembled everything. and it caught fire within seconds. It was much quicker to put everything back together and was worth the time (about 45 minutes) and money ($23, and I've heard OEM is about $80). I hope your result is similar to mine. Much luck!
