Developed in theory but not functional in practice. The double sided gussets on the arms help fold the umbrella into a nice compact shape for easy packing, but the light weight of the material means it's a bit delicate/fragile and will within 2 minutes of use in relatively light winds the pliers were broken. immediately turn around and fall on me. The second time, one of the pliers broke in half rendering the entire umbrella unusable because I had to pack it up otherwise the torn edge of the metal would tear the thin canvas and further damage it. They have gone too far in making it light and compact in their opinion and as a result it no longer works except in the mildest of weather conditions.
