Review on πŸ“ POWERAXIS Micrometer: Advanced Electronic Measurement and Conversion Device by Brandon Wynen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Does the job for the price

At first I thought this was the wrong product as the packaging didn't mention the IPX rating. But when I go back to the product list, I see that this is exactly the product. I'm just assuming it's somewhat waterproof, but probably won't test it (I wanted to measure something in my pool but decided against it). I wanted everything in the US to be in millimeters, but that's not the case and probably never will be. So I really like the extra fractions of this item - that's the main reason I got it. But you'll find that in many cases the size falls in between the measurements you would actually use, like 16th or maybe 32nd. So you end up at 31/128 or so and end up playing with the dial to see , which work pick-up it is closest to (in this case, a hair less than 1/4 inch). There are probably ways to handle this, but they require a smoother display. The only real issue I had was that the dial has a lot of play so it's not easy to adjust it up and down smoothly. This isn't usually a problem if you're just measuring something, but when I want to set it to an exact 5mm and check if my item is undersized or oversized it can be a bit tricky, I'll end up using the 5.02 set or 4.99. That's probably close enough, but if you're fussy or suffer from OCD, you'll be disappointed that it's really difficult to get within +-0.1mm without some luck. You'll probably land my finger on either side of the body and move it as slowly as possible instead of using the dial. They almost always go back to 0.00mm +/- 0.01. This is accurate enough for my needs. If you use the decimal display in inches, you'll find that it's +/- 5,000 inches.
