I have trouble typing on my MacBook when it's flat so I needed something to give it a little support. While this is a pretty crude way of doing this, they definitely do it without raising it so much that it's awkward to tap on. They lift it about an inch and a half above my desk at the perfect angle. They're also made of good quality rubber so they won't scratch your laptop. When not in use they are held together with magnets, but the magnets are not strong at all and come off very easily.
