Ever since I got the wallet I've put it in a packet of baking soda because of the strong chemical smells. I've changed the baking soda every week and the smell has gone down a bit, but it's still there. The reason I didn't return it was because I needed a small white holdall and it's difficult to find a small white bag at the last minute. I've been shopping in Italy for many, many years - I've never smelled such a strong chemical smell, even in the Florentine market. All the leather I bought there smelled very nice of leather. I may throw the purse away after the trip if it still stinks!
