.But here I am, writing a review for a hairbrush. It seems like such a mundane thing, but in this case, I say, treat yourself. It's not a huge splurge, but the difference between this brush and your standard Goody or ConAir brush from the drugstore is stark. First, a little about myself, so you can better gauge how useful this review is to you: I'm an Asian woman with very long (by today's standards) hair that goes down to the small of my back. It's thick, straight, and prone to tangling. My oldest daughter has coarser, wavy hair that is even thicker than mine. My youngest daughter has fine, semi-wavy hair. The reason this brush is such a joy lies in its versatility. It tackles tangles gently and effectively, and does so equally as well on my hair as my daughters'. I have a pure boar bristle brush which I love for its ability to smooth out and "polish" my hair, but my complaint about it is that it brushes only the most superficial "layers" of my hair, leaving knots underneath. This brush has the added advantage of longer nylon bristles, so I get both the detangling action AND the polish in one fell swoop.I've used brushes by Pears and Bass, and while they are admittedly very nice brushes, I have to call this brush out in particular because of the price, and the fact that it's made out of bamboo (a little more sustainable), and it feels great to hold. It's otherwise every bit as enjoyable to use. Just as a side note, I'd recommend rubbing the bamboo bits down with a drop of jojoba oil or other light, non-reactive oil every so often if you use it on wet hair.it will help to protect the bamboo. One thing I will take issue with is this claim that wooden brushes don't promote static. If the air is dry enough, ANY brush will generate static, to include this one. So, if your main goal is to reduce the static electricity to prevent fly-aways, you might be disappointed with this brush; I'd recommend an ion-emitting brush for that. However, if you just want a very nice, comfortable, workhorse of a brush that is perhaps a more eco-friendly option than a hard plastic brush, this one is definitely worth a look.
