Followed the instructions here and it worked as described. The only downside is that the kit didn't come with instructions, so it's a good thing they were provided here (although that's pretty self-explanatory). Also, it broke after piercing my nose. Maybe it's intentionally made to be used once? Maybe that explains why other reviews also say they are broken. But mine REALLY pierced my nose completely. Some reviews say he only half pierced her. Maybe mine completely pierced mine because I squeezed it tight and locked it completely (as another review says). Remember, you are making a hole in your body. Yes, there will be pain (but not really much!). Just keep pushing. The pain stops when the hairpin goes all the way through the nostril.
