Solid probe suitable for testing, measuring and testing

This is a very interesting sensor that you can use to check the TDS level of liquids. It uses an analog signal to output data, since the Arduino has an ADC port this made it easy to get started. The data lets you read the PPM of liquids, so I decided to try a few different inputs: filtered water from my fridge, rainwater, and unfiltered tap water. It was interesting to see that the PPM reading was slightly higher with unfiltered tap water, but I realized that after that I really had no way of confirming that the reading was correct. I have a feeling this might be one of those products where you need some kind of basic validation mechanism to really optimize it for your use case. I think anyone using this would want to purchase some sort of calibrated TDS solution so they can validate their calibration for use in personal projects. In terms of setup, everything worked very well. I was able to get the sample code up and running with no issues and went from container to testing in less than 10 minutes. I would recommend this product with the caveat that it's worth checking how well it calibrates.

Pros
  • Note. When using the TDS instrument's sensor, the sensor sensor is immersed in liquid, and the customer must remove the sensor sensor protective cover to avoid false readings and malfunctions.
Cons
  • Older model
