I can't believe I waited this long considering how long the $150 discs have been around. After receiving this disk, I installed it on a 5 year old, sluggish XP machine. Installed Windows 7 in 15 minutes. This computer used to slow down running Vista and 7. The old 120GB 5400RPM hard drive just couldn't handle it. It ran Windows 7 about as fast as my Macbook Pro Mac OS. The real reason I bought this drive is to install it in a Macbook Pro to replace a 250GB hard drive. This is a work machine that doesn't take up much space, so 40GB is plenty, although 4.5GB is reserved for virtual Windows XP. It used to be 15GB, but there are a lot of things you can cut down (pagefile, restore points) and really reduce XP. But back to the performance appraisal. Opening any application, including the fairly large VMware, is instantaneous. The virtual machine starts one second after clicking the application. You can launch any application and it will open immediately. I would recommend using Intel instead of Kingston, although Kingston is a rebranded Intel drive. Intel delivers firmware updates and offers excellent support. Kingston has no plans to offer firmware updates. This is important because Intel supports cropping and Kingston doesn't with simple firmware.
