If you are looking for a great LDC microphone at an incredible price, buy the TZ Stellar X2 now. There's nothing quite like it (or even close) on the market today that wouldn't cost you the proverbial "arms and legs." It's a precision handcrafted product with quality components and materials that sounds incredibly good for a microphone at almost any price point. It has recently been compared favorably to the Neumann U87 in a number of high profile reviews and will not disappoint even the most discerning listener. I've been testing the X2 with both male and female singers in my studio for the past few days and I have to say the results have been really impressive. The sound is extremely balanced; warm bottoms without a hint of boom; amazingly smooth mids (which is where I think this mic really excels) and crisp highs that are never too bright or annoying (like many mid-range condenser mics these days). The extremely low noise floor and powerful output means you can use the preamp at lower volume levels while avoiding distortion and clipping. The X2 is widely acclaimed for its voice output, but I quickly found that it performed just as well in vocal applications. In short, you absolutely won't find a better mic anywhere at this price point or even multiples of it.
