Review on AKG K701 Superb Stereo Headphone - Premium Reference Class (Level 1) by Ha Joon (Kim joon) ᠌

These are not my first AKG headphones of this type. Many years ago I listened to the AKG K601 with pleasure, but then I sold them for financial reasons. Last year, I realized that I was missing my portable ATH-ES10s, and decided to go back to AKG for home listening, because I really liked their sound, but with an older model - K701 (similar to AKG Q701). In 2022, on the forum, I saw an advertisement for the sale of this model for only 6,000 and, without thinking twice, ordered this treasure of sound. Made in Austria. Applied proprietary technology vari-motion. Surround, non-flat sound due to the fact that each ear is in a large chamber formed by the earcups. The sound is crystal clear - clear and crisp. Ideal for listening to live music. Of course, headphones require a decent source with at least some built-in amplifier. These headphones were used, according to legend, when mixing Michael Jenson's best-selling album. In some genres, the low-frequency range may not be enough, but this is easily treated with an equalizer (only with straight hands and according to the frequency response graph, which is in RuNet). For live music, bass boost is not required. If you listen to purely music with a predominance of low frequencies, then take a closer look at other models. Otherwise - in terms of detail, musicality - the headphones are great, they easily compete with more expensive open models.
