I bought this because my 5x magnifying mirror seemed to prevent me from "plucking" my face without causing serious damage and scarring. (Terrible habit of mine, I know!) but it's not my fault, so I figured if the mirror had more magnification and light, I'd be kinder to my face. Although the mirror looked nice and everything worked as it should, I found the light to be too dim and the magnifying mirror was not 7x as advertised. I compared it to my 5x and the magnification was the same. I'm not worried about returning it because the extra light allows me to see a little better, but I wouldn't recommend it at all for aging eyes.
