I always thought compression stockings were for a much older generation, but when I got severe plantar fasciitis at the age of 29 I despaired. I'm glad I found a brand that tries to be both environmentally and socially responsible with a product that has helped alleviate my unrelenting foot pain. They are comfortable to wear (I wear them to work, at home and when going out in shoes that lack support) and breathe well. However, after my first machine wash, I noticed that they didn't 'wick away' moisture as well and I felt like I was wearing 'wet' socks for 4 hours per shift. Also, I noticed that the socks now have a rather unpleasant odor that gets onto my feet even after I take them off (? from?). I also have to say that I've never had a problem with sweaty or smelly feet in socks of any kind (bamboo, polyester, cotton or wool), so that's not typical of me at all. It smells a little "chemical" but it's most likely bacteria clinging to the fibers. I have to hand wash these guys most nights but they have put my legs back to proper use. I think that's a reasonable compromise.
