I had an original Leifheit almost 20 years old and if I hadn't left it near the burner I would still be using it. on my original how the lid hooks into the spinner basket. This new one is foolproof. I had to put the old one on so that it turns, this one is one and that's it. The spinner handle now also stays on the lid with a simple locking groove, my old one slipped off without locking into place. It didn't bother me, but this feature is good. It's a bit small, you might have trouble peeling a salad for 4 people, but it's ok for the two of us. The plastic seems to be of good quality and the lid is exactly the same. The rubber ring at the bottom of the bowl sticks well to the countertop and rotates easily. DO NOT put the inner basket in the dishwasher, it will get too hot and warp enough to be a nuisance. either a hot burner, or an open flame, or an annealing kiln, or, like me, you'll buy another of those fine spinners.
