Review on πŸ“· Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Black) – 16.05 MP, 3-Inch Touch Screen LCD, Body Only by Amy Washington

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Favorite digital camera.

I don't think I'll ever be able to give a camera five stars, so four stars is nothing short of a fantastic rating for this camera. This is by far my favorite digital camera. I bought two of these, the second when the GH3 was announced and it was significantly larger than the GH2. Its size really sets it apart from any other DSLR. A few newer cameras are starting to approach the size so there's plenty to choose from, but I'm firmly committed to the m4/3 format with about 12 lenses so I don't see myself switching and going anywhere. soon. Some other things that make GH2 different. Electronic viewfinder: I have a Nikon D700 and a 7D. The Nikon, which I mainly use for macro, still works and the 7D sits gathering dust on the shelf because I use the GH2 instead. That's because of the electronic viewfinder. Both the GH2 and Canon are very good at HD video, but the electronic viewfinder lets you record video as if you were taking photos, with the ability to shoot and use the viewfinder. The 7D forces you to use the LCD on the back, which doesn't work from the outside, without buying an additional device to block out the light and help you focus on the screen. Lots of little pancake lentils. The M4/3 line is filled with small fixed focal lengths and at least a small zoom. All the incomplete lenses I have are very sharp. I particularly like the regular Olympus 4/3 zoom lenses that fit the GH2 with an adapter. This camera has all the features you would expect from a modern DSLR such as: E.g. high resolution, RAW, 5 fps, custom profiles, etc. etc.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Minor issues
