I bought two of these and they work great. Hard Drives - I have a 4TB WD Black hard drive that delivers around 200MB/s read/write speeds and an 8TB White Label hard drive that came from a WD My Book. This removed drive worked natively WITHOUT having to block the 3rd pin! I am very happy about this little surprise. I'm seeing around 180MB/s for reading and writing. Some of my older Seagate drives have slightly slower speeds, but I don't have an Iron Wolf to test with (my Baracuda Compute drives were frustratingly slow, around 140/160 MB/s). It just goes to show that not all hard drives are created equal. SSD - My Samsung 850 Pro and 860 Evo drives give me between 460 and 515 MB/s. They are all connected to a StarTech USB 3.1 Gen 2 Hub and then Thunderbolt 3 on my 2017 MBP. . Tested with BlackMagic Design's Disk Speed Test app. The build quality is stable. I'm not worried about durability. It's nice that the case, cables, and ports are no longer the bottleneck for the potential top speeds we're supposedly expecting from storage.
