I used this on a recent car trip and it worked great. On the back there is an option to distribute the food after 12 or 24 hours, so there is no need to set a specific time. If you insert and charge the batteries at 6:00 p.m., they will turn off again at 6:00 a.m. (when set to 12 hours). I have a standard 10 gallon tank and plug it into the cutout I usually use for the heater. I used granola and was worried it would make a mess, but it worked fine. This is a simple and easy to use feeder.
