This is a great item, great quality and value for money. Also, the one I received was made in the good old USA, despite the online description "Made in China". water pipes. Our problem, besides a bit of iron oxide and particulate matter, is that we are downtown and the water pressure is about 120psi! Great for filling a washing machine, a tub in a very short amount of time but not as good if there is a leak as was the case with our latest plastic filter housing which was rated at 125psi. It was the second failure in 12 years. Each time it was the bypass valve assembly and the last time my wife urgently woke me up at 4am to tell me there was a lot of water in our basement. Not the way I like to start a Monday morning. No more plastic filter housings with bad valve seals. This device is perfect. It is rated for 300psi. inch and is made of sanitary stainless steel. It has no moving parts. It just keeps getting better. You do not need a bypass to change the filter. But you need another inexpensive fitting - the original ball drain cock. I am very smart so I installed the Aqua Pure SST1HA myself and also installed a Webstone 40613W 40613W NSF-61/G lead free brass drain ball valve. I installed this valve after the Aqua Pure filter housing. Now the only thing I have to do to change the filter is shut off the main valve to the house's water supply and a simple twist of the Webstone valve isolates the rest of the house AND depressurizes the water in the filter The Aqua Pure 1 Micron Filter is an extremely fine, efficient filter that still delivers a flow rate of 8 GPM and has a recommended change interval of 6 months, depending on your water quality.Easy filter change, unscrew the flange ring with a short Use the supplied shank wrench, swap the filter and tighten the flange ring. This is a much stronger and more reliable design than the plastic screw in the case which can be over tightened and leak. Even though the water pressure we have isn't that high (and I could have put a pressure reducing valve in it but I like the higher pressure) I think I'll buy it anyway.
