Review on πŸš— Auto-Vox M1 4.3'' TFT LCD Monitor Backup Camera Kit: Easy One-Wire Installation, IP 68 Waterproof Camera for Truck & Sedan by Tony Miller

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great: Car rear view cameras

I installed the M1 in my 2004 Tacoma Extracab. I made all the connections in the left rear taillight. The cable was long enough to run into the cockpit. Running the cable under the bed and into the cabin is quite difficult - it requires patience, long thin arms and a flashlight and zip ties. I routed the cable into the cab through the existing rubber grommet that already routed the cables into the cab. Cable Length: The camera cable is 4 1/2 feet long, it connects to what I call the "connector". Power cable (from junction) 4 1/2 ft. Cable to monitor (from junction) 19 ft. And the monitor cable is 1'8" long (so the total cable length from the connector to the monitor is about 20'8"). At the "intersection" there is a switch (not mentioned in the "instructions") that turns on the guides. I installed this "junction" behind the left tail light (and the overall length of the wire was enough to get to the dash). Cables and connectors contain very small diameter wires; They are thin - be careful when installing. 4 days later: It still works. I am happy. Edit: After about a week it stopped working. Finally, I looked at my connections. I thought it was the auto vox connector on the "joint". I have contacted Auto-Vox via email. They sent two (!) cable/plug assemblies (from China). I received them in 1 week. Now I think the problem was my existing wiring - it was kind of a rat's nest. However, the camera has been working since I set up my connections. So I'm impressed with Auto-Vox's customer service and thank them.

Pros
  • Car rear view cameras
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
