Very nice and genuine sterling silver (925) but if you want something that looks like a real fire opal you can look a little better. At the same time, these are very beautiful silver earrings with a beautiful blue insert. I like their size (a little less than an inch). I wore them for about 4 weeks without taking them off (shower, sleep) and apart from the fact that they needed a good cleaning they looked the same as when I received them. They didn't turn my skin green, black, or any other color. an old toothbrush, some soap and water, a dip in peroxide and they were like new! I really like these earrings, a great everyday earring and they go really well with a very fire opal pendant, unless they are very close together and your opals are fire fire they will go well together. I didn't add stones as I wanted something easy to maintain for everyday use.
