Some of these negative reviews had to be sneered at. I'm glad I read them, so I knew that many subjects wouldn't bother me much. So let's look at the seat as a whole. It's plastic and feels like plastic. I have Crohn's disease so I go in and out of the bathroom quite often and am happy with the feel of the seat. The main lid closes quietly, without clicking. My 3 year old daughter also struggled with the instruction that she had to raise the seat first before putting it down. So I thought of another way. It really wasn't that difficult. I showed her how to use her finger to hook and lower the seat in a "come here" motion. Seriously, it doesn't take long and she's a pro now. I really like the function of the baby seat and I like that it has to be raised so it doesn't fall. This seat is in my salon bathroom at home and I've already received compliments on it.
