Review on Mirka 9A 232 APRP 5 Inch Abranet Assortment: A Superior Sanding Solution by Kaveen Reyes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only grinding wheel I use.

This applies to all abrasives, not just P80. These things are incredible, really amazing. I can often use one wheel of each grit for an entire project. Quite often with a few small things that I make, I can store these things for many, many individual purposes. I heard that one of the finishing snobs (famous finishing author) quoted an average hard drive lifespan of 1 minute and abranet of 5 minutes. In my experience, this grossly underestimates the durability of Abranet performance. 5 minutes ha! The initial cost is a bit higher than other equally efficient drives, but when you factor in the durability of these drives, there's no dollar-to-dollar comparison. Combined with a good vacuum cleaner (I personally have a whole Festool setup - LOVE IT) there is NO, I mean NO, dust on your project. Woodworking is my profession, so I try to keep the health aspects of the profession in mind as much as possible. Avoiding particulate matter is key to avoiding some of the long-term respiratory effects of our operations. Therefore, a disc that allows direct dust access to the tool's extraction point is very welcome in my shop. I can't say enough good things about Abranet, it's the only disc I currently use.

Pros
  • Abranet offers dust-controlled grinding, allowing Abranet to outperform traditional abrasives and increase efficiency.
Cons
  • The cord is shorter than other incisors.
