Background: I never write reviews but felt compelled to write one for this product because I was skeptical of trusting other reviewers (not that there was anything wrong with their posts, I am one by nature skeptical person, especially when I trust online reviewers). I won't lie, I was very nervous when I first ordered it. I've spent endless amounts of time reading reviews outside of Revain, watching YouTube videos, and trying to find blogs specifically dedicated to keratin research. As a kid, I had naturally thick, curly Shirley Temple-type hair. But as I got older, plus years of coloring and blow drying, my hair got very frizzy, frizzy and wavy. My hair is deceptively thick and straight. On average, it takes me about an hour to dry (dirty) with a blow dryer, plus 35 minutes to straighten with a flat iron. I used to get a keratin treatment at a salon when I lived in Miami because the stylist only charged $150 for my big head and I was recommended to me by a close friend who did the treatment multiple times on the same woman and had great hair. . I now live in Los Angeles and have been trying to find a salon that will cost me less than $250 for a year. The cheapest price I heard was that the treatment starts at $200 and goes up depending on the length and thickness. My hair is shoulder length but very thick so I was offered $275 with a 10% discount for the first time. After researching the prices I decided to take a chance and see if I could do it myself. For the record, I NEVER DO ANYTHING TO MY HAIR MYSELF. I thought I had been covered enough times to know the steps and in today's digital age there are many tutorials on the internet. When I received the package I got scared and decided not to, so the bottles hung under my sink for a month until I worked up the courage to try. Hairbrush ($2 off target) Bowl for mixing hair color and application brush ($5 from Sallys Cosmetics Store) Large round ceramic brush (stole one from my mom years ago, don't know where she got it) 8 duck tooth hair clips baby Bliss Professional Conair hair dryer with tourmaline straightener ($65 off target) Straightening comb with hair clip ($6) Regular wet brush (regular toothbrush from CVS, I think it's revlon?) Face mask and gloves (my husband works at the hospital so brought he takes her home) Application: I started using the clarifying shampoo at 7:00 p.m. My hair was pretty messy so I washed it 3 times with a clarifying shampoo to make sure all the oil was washed out. After the 2nd wash, my hair structure was stiffer than usual, which is to be expected from a clarifying shampoo. It was difficult to detangle and comb, just like my previous salon experiences. It took about 40 minutes to blow dry my hair on the HEAT setting instead of the HOT setting. After that I divided my hair into 3 sections and started (heartbeat) applying the treatment. I used a brush to apply the product about an inch from the scalp and halfway down the length of the hair on both sides, then used a fine-toothed comb to remove the excess. As I got closer to the front of my head, I could smell smoke, but it was bearable (much better than the salon I went to, in my opinion). After waiting 20 minutes I started blow drying with WARM. Heat setting (not HOT setting). This process took me the most time because I have a lot of hair. I used a combination of a round ceramic brush and a regular wet brush because I've lost patience. This process took about an hour and 15 minutes, I did it outside on the balcony of my apartment with a fan blowing off the fumes. When my hair was completely dry, I started ironing it. I watched each part about 4-5 times. You can really feel the smoke there, although in my personal opinion the smoke in the cabin was much heavier. When the ironing was over my hair was very straight, almost too straight for my personal style, but that's what the process takes to set the treatment. I left the treatment on for 3 days, stroking my hair (lightly, about 1x per strand) each of those days. I made sure not to lift the hair but leave it straight. Results: This product really works. The same result as in the salon for half the price. I only used a third of the bottle so enough for 2 more treatments. Now my hair dries more than bearable, blow dry and styling time is significantly reduced (it takes me about 25-30 minutes to blow dry and iron all my hair), my hair no longer frizzes from rain, humidity or sweat that my hair has not burned, fallen out or had any other problems. I am very happy with this product and glad I chose to trust other reviewers.
