Bought this item to cap bottles of homemade spirits, some with T cups and some with flared caps that didn't go in completely flush. Most of the wax was covered in one coat, a second coat was only necessary if the wax did not get into the gap between the cork and the flared rim. I'm very happy with the product but since there were no instructions with it I had to experiment and thought I should convey what works and what doesn't. I've found that a jar of tomato paste, thoroughly washed and dried, dipped in a small saucepan of water is perfect for dunking a long-necked bottle. I filled it about halfway with balls of wax, then soaked it in boiling water, stirring frequently, until it was completely melted. Make sure you continue heating and stirring for a few more minutes, as balls that aren't melted are easy to miss and will appear as droplets on the finished product. The hardened wax left in the jar could easily be reheated later - it just took a little longer as the surface area is smaller than spheres. I need to work on my technique - the ideal seems to be to dip a little, swirl a little, and then know when to twist slightly after pulling it out of the wax so the drip either blends or artfully falls off. But that's part of the fun. And now I can send my bottles.
