**this didn't work for me BUT*** I did not attempt to use the Velcro straps provided and attached for fear of leaving a sticky residue. My dog loves to stick his head out the window so I hold the window up and down and without the velcro strips he absolutely jumps out the window and doesn't work. My dog is also small so a large dog can get by on their own without using the window. If you have a small dog and don't open or close windows, this should work without Velcro. If you want to try velcro I think it might work but I can't say for sure. If you can get him to stay put and your dog isn't too big, he should work on protecting your door.
