Review on Illet Aluminum Fuel Cap Combo Pack for Dodge Ram Diesel Trucks 2013-2018 - Magnetic Green Diesel Fuel Cap and Non-magnetic Blue DEF Cap - Better SEO by Kris Feezy

Not as safe as it should be.

I have a 5th gen Ram 2500 and this set of caps, while they appear to be of good quality and feel good in the hand, doesn't really fit as well as I would think. The original plastic DEF cover feels much more secure when in place and actually makes a sort of click when securely in place. The aluminum DEF cap in this kit is slightly different where it screws in and is difficult to turn once installed in the DEF fill tube. With considerable force you can twist it further to allow the cap to fit better in the stuffing tube, but it seems like you have to twist it far enough to almost break the stuffing tube, which will definitely be a problem. I ended up with an OEM plastic factory cap. As for the diesel fuel cap, there are 3 small protrusions on the filler neck (the 12, 3, and 9 o'clock positions, so when you put the diesel fuel cap in the filler neck, the only part of the rubber O-ring on the actually in contact with the filler neck). The pipe is all the way down and the 3 tabs prevent the o-ring from being sealed anywhere else. The installation seems somewhat secure, but again it's not sealed in any way and in the few days I've had this kit, you I can already see damage to the o-ring where those protrusions are digging into it. The magnet in the lid is weak at best, barely holding the lid's weight on a metal surface, and even the slightest hit from a truck is enough. The concept is good, but the designers have to go back to the drawing board for some improvements to this product.
