Note that they have a slight sheen in the yarn so they look a bit "girly" but I also use totally darker shades on boys and they don't seem to notice or care . will fit both 1, 3 and 5 year olds as they are very stretchy and the shape and design of the mittens seems like a 5 year old would outgrow this style and looks a little better in style and size on a 3 year old out. I love that the mitten-like melted finger design is a lot easier to put on and take off than the standard split finger design on these really young kids. Each pair is individually wrapped. The fact that they are individually wrapped means they are ready to gift to your various children or to anyone you wish to deliver them to. during the holidays (which parents can use, as opposed to extra toys). I wasn't happy that essentially 4 pairs were pink and lavender purple as that really makes them girls only and not unisex. Colours. Overall I would recommend them.
