Anyone who has owned the old Lufkin line will be very disappointed with the quality of any of the new Lufkin lines. The wood is twisted and bent in most places, making it impossible to lay flat. And it looks very brittle, the wood is cheap and flexible. Older versions had harder wood, making them very strong and allowing me to completely decompose them very quickly. I think if I try to use this ruler quickly it will break, you have to babysit it. My suggestion is to either look for a better brand or do what I did and go on ebay and buy one of the older versions that were built in the US.
