The base of this replacement antenna was slightly narrower than my original antenna which was still on my tape recorder with the broken antenna. I was able to unscrew both antennas from their elbow screw caps and screw the new antenna into the old cap at this joint. That way the old connector will still fit the radio securely and the new antenna will twist and turn and pop out like the old one before it broke 6 inches. Reception is good again. If you're replacing yours on a swivel like I did, be aware that a tiny washer or two may fall out when you take the old elbow apart. Keep them to keep the new factory floor cozy although I suspect
