So that's what I don't understand about this charger. It's an import, meaning Sony doesn't sell it directly in the US yet. It comes with a Japanese manual (although you don't really need a manual to know how to hook it up), but it also comes with a US power adapter rated for our 110VAC electrical system. Either way, it works and you can tell it's built MUCH BETTER than some of the cheap alternatives out there. I used to have one of the devices that had a distinct "C" shape where you could place your controllers. The problem was that over time gravity started pulling the controllers down and after about a year of use I noticed that I was getting very finicky about how to insert the controllers because they wanted to tip over which the USB connection weakened. This isn't a problem with this device as gravity keeps the controllers fully atop the charger. Please note that this charger does NOT use a USB port for charging. It uses the EXT connector (the small connector next to the headphone jack) instead. It takes a bit of practice to get the controllers plugged in properly, but I found I could plug them in in the dark much, much faster than I would ever have plugged in a USB cable (I almost always try to plug in a USB cable) . . wrong way around on the first try). Since they use the EXT connector, if you have another device that uses that connector, or a device that uses the headphone jack (like one of those mini keyboards), you'll need to unplug that device before charging. I think this is the best way to charge controllers in the long run as there is less chance of damage as the EXT port is more reliable than the USB port. Also, the charging ports on the base swivel back and forth, so you don't have to align the controller perfectly when inserting it because there's room to wiggle. This base station is also much more attractive than most other options. there, but most importantly, I know the power supply and charging circuit designed and manufactured by Sony, so you'll be amazed by the performance of 3-stage. deliver. I am very satisfied with this device - I can only recommend it. I don't understand why Sony can't just sell this directly, but since I don't care about having an English manual, there's really nothing wrong with using an imported version. The controllers also look neat and tidy on this device, eliminating the need for tangled cables from the PS4 to the controllers. Until we get true wireless charging, I think this is the best option.
