This block is a magnet sandwiched between a metal ball and a metal plate attached to the phone. It's quite a brilliant design for easy repositioning. However, the magnet holds the phone perfectly, but doesn't hold the weight of the (relatively light) phone at all. It falls off the ball almost immediately. I decided to take the magnet out of the case and stick it directly on the ball where I want to attach my phone (possibility of repositioning). It also holds the phone better without a magnetic case. I also had to glue the metal plate to the phone - the adhesive backing is useless. I still really like it - it's definitely the best phone holder I've found for this device. Just know that it won't work as intended.
