Review on Siivton 4 Sides Expandable Pet Carrier: Airline Approved Soft-Sided ๐Ÿพ Bag for Cats, Dogs, and Small Animals with Fleece Pad Included by Carrie Anderson

The thin main zip holding the wearer rips instantly

I wish I could give it zero stars because to be honest it's far from what I get for the price compared to others expected options (not to mention the fact that the expandable areas are not supplemented). .I ordered this carrier after my new cat refused to ride in her previous soft side carrier (she was rescued and the whole experience seems to have stressed her a lot, also she generally hates all carriers and nothing helps). I tried closing the main zippers (the ones that hold the entire bag together by the side window) and they broke immediately, tearing the rail off one side. Thought I'd return it and get a replacement which will hopefully work better as I plan to use it for air travel as well. I got a replacement and after feeding my cat at the extended rear end of the carrier for a few days, I closed the door with a lattice window at the other end. Finally there's a way to get this cat to the vet (which she needs so badly) without an epic fight, I thought. Boy was I wrong. Now, my cat is by no means Houdini, Michelin Man, or Superman, but after I zipped the side door shut, she easily opened between her paws and headbutts, and flew out through the gap she made. As I opened the rest of the door and considered alternative strategies to get her inside, the same zipper broke AGAIN. Now the carrier my cat used to eat in is completely unusable and I was unable to take her to the vet because all the temptations and then the epic struggle to get her into the old carrier all by myself proved fruitless. Another delay in investigation and now I have to find another carrier and hope she holds out and gets used to it before the next available vet visit. As for the zippers themselves, which are incredibly flimsy and cheap (are they plastic?), they suck compared to the zippers on her old carrier, which is just a soft-sided bag with no solid bottom or anything. Also, the carrier has inside-out zippers and you need to fold them back together before you can use them. So make sure you do a few zip runs if you end up buying this. This product would be much better if the zippers were replaced with higher quality metal zippers. Honestly, I wish I had the zippers from her old carrier on this carrier, but alas. The search for a good porter continues.
