Review on ๐ŸŽฎ PDP Samus Wired Fight Pad for Wii U - Enhanced Gaming Experience by Tanya Smith

Poor ergonomics compared to GameCube grip

This controller is designed for the Wii (plugs into the Wiimote where the Nunchuk normally plugs in) and gives you the look and feel of a GameCube controller. This is a real Nintendo licensed product, but it wasn't actually developed by them and that's the problem. The ZL/ZR buttons are recessed too deeply, causing your finger to hit the body of the controller before the button is fully depressed. Too much vertical travel compared to the GameCube. Likewise, the left analog stick is raised significantly higher than all other controls on the face of the panel. Switching from the D-Pad to the left analog stick requires raising your thumb up a lot more than on the GameCube, where it was easy to switch between the two. It sounds insignificant, but in practice it is annoying. Overall, this pad isn't bad and it works, but it's not as comfortable or ergonomic as the GameCube controller. It's easy to recommend as a cheap fallback if your classic controller ever breaks, but it wouldn't be my go-to controller if I didn't have other options. Unlike many unnamed third-party controllers, I'd say it's better than most, but still a far cry from the GameCube design it's trying to showcase.
