Review on 🐱 Premium Non-Slip Pad for Cat Water Fountain - A Must-Have Accessory for KittySpring by Gillian Ahn

I confess I was a Kickstarter backer of this product (Kitty Spring was sold through Desimore) and it's identical to the two I have. (Well, not exactly identical as one of mine has glassware like this and the other plastic one.) My cats love this dispenser (it's not a fountain, by my definition) I think because the glassware is wide and flat. And if they drink a lot of water, then I'm happy too. But after using dispensers for a few years, I've made a few observations that potential buyers might find useful. 1) Glassware tends to accumulate limescale and so far I've had absolutely no luck getting it off my plate. A dishwasher, a bartender's friend, cleaning with a non-abrasive sponge - nothing helps. (I haven't tried Lime Away, which might be my next step.) This isn't a problem with plastic utensils. 2) The glass version does not distribute the water as well and evenly as the plastic version. does. I often have to tip the device over to fill a bowl. This can be seen from how quickly the water level drops on the plastic version compared to the glass version. It's fine, but you need to make sure there's always water in the plate. 3) Both versions would really benefit from a larger tank. I have four cats and not all of them use these dispensers, but I still refill the tanks every few days, especially the plastic version. if you want to clean the channel in the base that controls the water flow. I started using a lab brush. You don't have to do it all the time, but the biofilm builds up there and sometimes floats to the surface of the water in the bowl. 5) You need to watch out for mold/fungus growth. in the inside of the lid to the tanks. Again, this requires a bit of development time, but needs to be tracked and cleaned up when it comes up. However, none of them matter much IMO, and the success of this design in getting my cats to drink is clear. Reason enough to buy one.
