I bought 3 Linux modules to replace our existing hardware extensions. I've had hum on wired extensions so this would be a good workaround. . A Linx resides on the same floor as the OOMA base unit. and we had no problems with it. Sound quality is good etc. The other two units are in the furnished basement. They stop working every two weeks. The failure mode is that the blue and orange lights are on and the device does not work when the handset is off hook. The workaround for this is to disconnect/reconnect the linx module and it will connect to the base module and start working again. This workaround matches my extension where I can follow it. This doesn't really work for another device connected to our alarm system as I don't regularly monitor the linx device to make sure it's disarmed. A call to tech support was beyond useless. I made the mistake of mentioning that one of the Linux modules was for an alarm system. After that the agent tried to sell me his own alarm system. So the solution is to "buy moreβ instead of trying to fix devices you already bought. For real? Hmm, that seems to be a trend among service providers. So I'm trying to fix it myself. I have connected two Linux devices with programmable timers that turn off the devices for 1 minute every day. Hope this solves these problems.
