I upgraded to this product from a 3rd gen i5. Looking back, I want to take a closer look at AMD's product line. Based on the research I've done, it seems like they have processors that will give you near-identical single-threaded performance. Many of their processors also have a lot of bandwidth. You get all of that for about half the price. Thus, you can use this product in single-threaded mode for a slight performance boost. But you have to pay twice as much for this. I'm not sure if it was worth it.
