I tried them on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (JL) with stock 33" tires (factory upgraded rims I believe) and a pair of brass steps on the stem end valves are visible. Maybe there's a gasket in the lid or something that might compress if I get my pliers out to turn it further, but I won't be carrying around pliers to gain access to the valve. Stem and I didn't want to risk damaging the valve stem or the product.
