I'm an electrical engineer and I've seen a lot of cables in my life. Just looking at the cable through the sheath it didn't seem right so I cut it open and scraped off the ends of the cable I had just cut. Difficult to photograph, but each filament turned out to be silver or aluminum beneath the copper I scraped off. Look for silver on the ends of the cut strands. The third photo really shows me scraping off a group of strands. Also, it was a terrible light for copper. They just made up for it by wearing a jacket twice the thickness of any speaker wire I've seen. knowing what Gauge or AWG is, I've added two pictures. Speaker wire is 18 AWG at best. He slips through to 20, so I'm being generous. Another photo shows the Southwire 14awg cable above and this speaker cable below. Note that the inner core of speaker wire is silver, not copper like Southwire. This is a silver aluminum core.
