I've had this speaker on my desk for weeks now and I honestly can't name a single person who *needs* it. I certainly don't. It's an odd looking thing, alarmingly fragile and lacking in bass. In many ways, this is not a very good speaker. And yet I love him. I love it beyond understanding. I've had dozens of speakers, ranging from cheap and gray to absurdly expensive, but none of them have filled me with the kind of joy I get when I turn on Tidal and play music through something that looks like it came out of space Trek. I ordered this to replace my Bang & Olufsen Beolit 20, a Bluetooth speaker which I really liked but the bass response was giving me problems with my wife and neighbors (I'm a bit hard of hearing and sometimes can't hear please Note that I increased the volume a bit). The Beolit was a wonderful speaker and what I liked most was the excellent graphic equalizer available in the B&O app, a tool that allowed me to adjust the sound to my tinnitus (bass makes dialogue muddy; I need strong mids). .Sony LSPX-S2 does not have this function. The only things you can control in the app are candle brightness and flicker, volume, and a simple binary switch for a small bass boost (along with various non-audio settings). Luckily the mids and highs are this speaker's specialty so without any tweaking the sound is close to perfect for me and if I really need to tweak it I can connect it to my EPOS sound card via 3.5mm and use the built in equalizer . For a kit this expensive, it's an unusually simple matter; exquisite hardware that Sony threw at us with a stern warning not to spoil their hard work by fumbling around. After weeks of playing I still don't know who this is for. I can't think of a good reason to recommend it to a friend, especially as I could easily name half a dozen speakers for the same price that offer all of Sony's features plus a few more and also don't come with the undoubtedly easily breakable glass tube mentioned above protrudes. But I would recommend her. I would recommend it to everyone even if they didn't ask for recommendations. It's stupid, absurd and useless, but it's fair. Special. Its appeal goes far beyond value for money or technical specifications. These things are neither there nor there, because they are just a beautiful thing to own. Buy if your budget allows. That's great.
