Updated overview: For those who care about network performance, this adapter refuses to USB3 to work. 0 speed, despite the declared support in the specifications. When you plug it in, no matter what port you plug it into, Windows notifies you that it won't run at USB 3.0 speeds. I checked out the reviews and posts on tp-link's own support forum and it turns out they advertise it on USB3, but this feature was eventually disabled, possibly in the device's firmware. The company refuses acknowledging this and actually blaming or apologizing to consumers for not needing the extra speed of USB3. As a result, while I find the connection very stable, it never comes close to the advertised speeds (AC1300 speeds). It sets up a fairly fast Wi-Fi connection, but USB2 maxes out at 480Mbps, so your throughput will always be (or in my case much lower than) 480Mbps. At first glance the adapter looks great and I think that's where all the positive feedback comes from. If you've struggled with a cheap N adapter for years, you'll probably find this thing amazing. However, if you take a closer look, you will see that you are not getting what you were promised. I threw that tp-link adapter aside, grabbed an extra AC1900 router I had laying around, put DDWRT on the specified router, configured it as a wireless bridge, and now I'm getting much faster connections and significantly higher throughput on my computer , which I connected to it. Speed is actually important when using a NAS and tp-link doesn't help. I recently bought a gigabit TP-Link switch that regularly overheats and crashes. It's essentially junk and often slows down below 100Mbps. I replaced it with a cheap Netgear gigabit switch and now I've got stable gigabit speeds. I think my point is that I will never buy a tp-link product again. I was very disappointed with everything what I have ever bought from them. I recommend anyone reading this to avoid them and go with a more reputable brand. The most frustrating thing is that they aren't even cheaper than other brands.
