The thing is beautiful! From a distance it only looks like dark wood, but up close it has nice streaks of different wood tones. It's smooth on the inside so the yarn doesn't stick. The socket tool fits. It's plastic and had a few snags, but I sanded it down and it's better now. My six year old loves using it. We both have a bit of a stitch problem, but I think I can get some pliers and see if I can bend the pins a bit. It works as is, you just have to be careful until you get used to it. would recommend.
