I don't wear sandals but I broke my big toe and now I have to wear them. On the first day I got caught in a downpour; They took a day in direct sunlight to dry. They are not waterproof. I decided I needed a second pair and ordered from Propet, which is about half the price of Dunham's ($55 vs. $95). Now I've got about 5 miles of walking (2 walks of 2.5 miles) on each, a couple of days of random walks around the house and right now I've got a Dunham on one foot and a Propet on the other. Here's a comparison. The basic structures are almost identical to the three-belt system. 6E Dunham and 5E Propet fit perfectly. I adjusted the back strap first and haven't had to touch it since. The two upper leg straps are easy to put on and take off and you can tighten or loosen them and the sandal will stay on. The Dunham straps slide easily through the ring hole, allowing you to lift your foot straight up and then drop straight down when you put them back on. However, this requires you to pull the straps back through the rings each time. Propet can probably do that too, but you'll have to work hard to get the strap out of the ring. The straps are thicker in the middle to keep them from slipping off the ring. That means you don't flop on top, instead slide from behind, which is easy. Choose. I prefer Propet as I don't have to mess around with rings. The Propets feel a little firmer than the Dunhams, which are looser and have a more relaxed fit (running in the Propet would probably improve this). Comfort is about the same. There is no difference in cushioning or wear and tear on feet and legs after long walks. From the looks of the sole and pad the Propet could be waterproof but I don't know yet. A big deal for those who need arch support; Propet has an arch support and works well. Dunham doesn't have arch support, but I was able to get my braces in place; They stayed and it worked. The most important thing is the price. I can't figure out what Dunham thinks they're giving me double the price. Price, straps and arch support are a definite win for the Propet.
