I have a JD lawn tractor that is over 40 years old. In the 30 years I've had it this is the first time the fuel pump has caused a problem, the order came a day early and fitted well. However, it leaked in the first two weeks. I have now found that it entered the crankcase and may have ruined the engine by diluting the oil with fuel. It will be necessary to disassemble it and look, it seems that it has lost compression and, fortunately, does not start. We'll see, big difference in cost but it might have been worth it if the engine had been smashed!
