6.7-9 inches worked perfectly for our 14 pound Miniature Schnauzer who had a wound by her eye that would not heal because she kept scratching it. Well worth the $6.89 we paid. I previously purchased a so called deluxe cone (solid, not clear) at 4 times the money and she hated it. Yes, she would not scratch her wound but she would just sit there with her head hung down :( She would not play, eat or drink with the deluxe color on. And when we were able to coax her into walking she would bump into things which would scare her. She is very tenderhearted. She was more comfortable with this collar. She behaved pretty much as normal. Eating, drinking, even running around. She wore it for almost 2 weeks. The material area of the did bend a bit however it was not that big of a deal. Even though this one is still in very good condition, I am picking up a spare, just in case, for the future.
