Out of the box it's very easy to plug in and turn on. Labels are clear and easy to read. I use it with a ThinkPad T470 and it sees everything I plug in perfectly. Note that this device shows up as a USB hub in Windows 10, so some device drivers need to be changed. Audio is an example, that means set up Lenovo USB Audio if you connect USB audio to it. Monitors are the same. You must use the supplied software driver for your graphics card as some Windows settings no longer work. It's not a big deal to a lot of people, but I wanted to mention it. There was an immediate firmware update for this dock and some driver updates that I had to install before it recognized anything I had plugged into it. The USB hub is important because if you plug a USB hub into this dock, Windows can nudge you away and say there isn't enough power or resources to power the hub through the hub. After update and setting everything works fine. All this took me about 25-30 minutes. I paid 250β¬ which I think is too expensive. But there is nothing like it so I had to buy it to reduce the amount of wires and cables all over the table. Overall, I'm glad I bought it and it's now a permanent fixture on my desk.
