This is how every wet and dry vacuum cleaner should be. There is no need to change the filter, add an extra filter sleeve or anything else. Just one filter that can do everything. Before I got this filter, I accidentally ran wet stuff into my 5 gallon shop vac thinking I had a "wet" filter installed. Apparently I had a "dry" filter and as you can see the water ruined the paper filter media. This replacement filter is approximately 1" shorter than the original Shop Vac filter (as shown in the photo). I thought that would cause problems, but the top seat for the original filter is probably 2 inches long, so everything is installed fine. I tested the replacement filter by spraying it with water and it didn't cause any problems. The water just drained away. The suction power from the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner remains the same as before the filter change, now there may be a little more suction power. Unlike most unpleasant things in life, when it comes to vacuum cleaners, crazier is better.
