Opening the package will prompt you to use the Nighthawk proprietary app. This app was one of the most annoying and clumsy quick setup options I've ever encountered. The steps only tell you part at a time, which will likely result in you having to repeat the steps. Not the end of the world, but still uncomfortable. What follows is a box that does NOT contain a manual. So if you're interested in learning about other features, you'll need to do some research on a system that may not require the Wi-Fi router you're about to install. Once you jump through a few hoops, the firmware will update, which can completely deadlock the router and cause future performance issues. If you're lucky enough to set up an SSID, you'll be prompted to allow the app to look for the connection you're setting up. However, the Wi-Fi signal can reinitialize at any time during this step, so you need to HOPE it actually stays connected for long. enough to complete this step. I don't know what follows this step because my app closed and crashed. However, at this point I was connected to WiFi with internet access. So I thought everything would be fine. Too bad that after only 20 minutes and some speed tests, the WiFi signal drops and the light flashes orange, meaning it's offline. And it was right. Internet access is no longer available. So I used the router reset app and it didn't do anything. I had to go to the router itself and turn it off and on again. This router that I received must have been bad because I can't find out that this is a common occurrence. But to be honest, I recommend investing the extra money simply to get something that is NOT related to Netgear at all. I regret giving them a chance after years of abandoning them.
