I had to deduct a star because I didn't have enough arch support, so I bought a cheap Dr. Scholl insert added - then it was perfect. Unless you have arch problems or suffer from plantar fasciitis, shoe support is probably good. That little item aside, they're great for hiking. I would break them in for travel and wear them all day, sometimes two days in a row. They don't really need to be hacked, but they are so handy that I enjoy using them every day. I will probably go back and buy another pair in a different color. At first glance, my hiking friend thought I'd gone out and bought a pair of Mephistos. You don't have to spend as much for walking comfort.
