We were given a high tech video monitor that records breathing but realized we couldn't use it until we got the baby out of the snoo cradle in ours room in the cradle of his children. We had to find a way to find out if he was moving while he was napping in our room and we were elsewhere in the house. It was the perfect solution. I have the microphone on the bedside table, which is probably about three feet from the child's mouth. With the receiver at maximum volume, I can hear even the faintest squeaks and coos. The receiver really needs to be plugged into the mains most of the time if you don't want to drain the batteries like crazy, but that was fine for us.
